Our principal, Kevin Simpson, began his apprenticeship as a plumber/gasfitter with AGL in 1980. His training covered appliance installation, appliance repairs and service, installation of gas mains and inlet services to homes. He trained in gas meter installation and testing, and gas leakage detection in both Natural Gas and LPG.

In 1991 Highlands Gas Services became the main installation contractor for AGL in the Southern Highlands area, employing a team of sub-contractors to fulfill a growing market demand for gas heating. They specialised in the design and installation of Brivis central heating, as well as flued and unflued space heaters.

In 1996 the company embraced the need to supply a specialist technical repair services and opened a repair workshop in Merrigang St Bowral on the premises of the AGL precinct, providing a drop off and pick up point for portable heating repairs and spare parts. They continued with installations due to customer demand.

This AGL site had been part of the original coal fired gas supply works for Bowral with gas reticulated from Merrigang St into the old Bowral area.

By 2009 Highlands Gas Services was firmly established as the leading technical repairer of gas appliances in the Highlands. They now ceased installations and focused entirely on service and repairs to almost every brand of gas appliance on the market.
